Nabtesco Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazumasa Kimura; hereinafter “Nabtesco”) is pleased to announce that its Precision Reduction Gear RVTM Series RV-135 has been registered in the 2026 Essential Historical Materials for Science and Technology (commonly known as “Future Technology Heritage”), a designation awarded by the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo.

The Precision Reduction Gear RVTM Series RV-135 was the first model in our Precision Reduction Gear RVTM Series for industrial robots, developed in 1985. Based on technologies cultivated through the development of reduction gears for construction machinery, the product features a unique design that integrates a cycloidal mechanism with a planetary gear mechanism. This innovative structure enabled the low vibration, high reduction ratio, compact size, light weight, superior durability against shock loads, high rigidity, and high precision required for industrial robots.
As a result, the RV-135 made a significantly enhanced performance of industrial robots at the time. In recognition of its technological innovation and historical significance, resulting in its registration in the Essential Historical Materials for Science and Technology.

■About the registration system for Essential Historical Materials for Science and Technology
Based on studies and research conducted by the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo, this system identifies and registers scientific and technological heritage materials that either:
・Significant contribution in the development of science and technology and constitute an important heritage to the next generations; or
・Remarkable impact to people’s lives, the economy, society, and culture. These materials will be registered into the “Registry of the Essential Historical Materials for Science and Technology”. This system will promote the accumulation of materials that are important in the development of science and technology in Japan.
