Marine Vessel Equipment
Making Passenger and Freight Vessels Safer and More Comfortable
Large marine vessels transport a range of goods and people across the world’s oceans. To ensure safety, cut labor and fuel usage, and reduce environmental impacts, their operators need to implement a range of optimizing measures for these large vessels. Nabtesco is assisting by supplying main engine remote control systems for medium-size to large vessels and the related system engineering services.
When it comes to the control systems for diesel engines, which are core components of ships, we are quickly meeting the demand for control systems for electronically controlled engines, which are set to become mainstream in the future. This is in addition to satisfying the demand for mechanical engine control systems. Through these activities, we are pursuing the development of environmentally friendly technologies. Nabtesco has MRO offices globally and will continue to help enhance the safety of oceangoing vessels and optimize their navigation by using our vast expertise and comprehensive global after-sales service system.
Regarding engine remote control systems for vessels, we have about a 50% share (estimates by Nabtesco) in the domestic market and around a 40% share (estimates by Nabtesco) in the world market.
Social Value Provided by the Business
- We supply highly safe, reliable, and environment-friendly marine vessel equipment for use in vessels, which provide a way to move goods and people with low environmental impact per unit moved. Through such equipment, we help reduce the environmental impact of vessels and assist with their safe navigation, as well as to safe and stable maritime transportation.
- We work on technological reforms that contribute to the manufacture of smart ships and decarbonization, as well as to sound development of the shipbuilding and marine vessel equipment industries.
Main Products
Main Engine Remote-Control System (M-800-VII)
This system enables remote control of the vessel’s diesel engine from the ship’s bridge and/or control room, and has functions for outputting commands to control the engine speed (rpm) and for monitoring engine status. Equipped with advanced network functions and a liquid-crystal display, the system provides outstanding operability and expandability.
Electronically controlled hydraulic valves
Each diesel engine cylinder is equipped with one electronically controlled hydraulic valve, which electronically controls the timing and amount of fuel injection and the timing at which the exhaust valve opens and closes. The valve contributes to higher fuel economy and is attracting much attention as an environmentally friendly component.
GAP sensors
GAP sensors monitor the behavior of engine fuel injection pumps and exhaust valves. The sensor issues an alarm when an abnormality is detected, thereby increasing the reliability of electronic diesel engine control systems.
