Investment in LOMBY Inc., through Nabtesco Technology Ventures

Nabtesco Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazumasa Kimura) is pleased to announce that Nabtesco Technology Ventures L.P. (Managing Partner: Hiroshi Nerima), the corporate venture capital fund established by Nabtesco, has invested in LOMBY Inc. (LOMBY), a Tokyo-based robotics company developing, manufacturing and operating autonomous mobility robots.
LOMBY is a startup company that develops outdoor autonomous mobility solutions combining robotics and AI. Its flagship product, the LM-A autonomous delivery robot, is an autonomous mobility robot that travels on sidewalks and similar areas under a remote-monitoring framework, having completed the required notification as a "remote-controlled compact vehicle" under the Road Traffic Act, thereby contributing to labor savings and greater efficiency in delivery operations. Commercial operation has already commenced in certain areas, and in the future the company also envisions expanding beyond the delivery field into services that support the mobility of people.
In the logistics industry, addressing labor shortages and improving delivery efficiency have become critical challenges, and expectations for autonomous delivery technology are rising. To date, Nabtesco has supplied wireless charging systems manufactured by WiBotic Inc. of the United States, which the Company distributes, for LOMBY's delivery robots. This investment builds on that existing business relationship and is intended to support LOMBY's business expansion.
Through this investment, Nabtesco will further build its knowledge of the autonomous delivery robot market and related infrastructure, while exploring the creation of new business opportunities and synergies through collaboration with LOMBY.
Going forward, Nabtesco will continue to deepen its collaboration with promising startup companies through open innovation activities, pursuing new business opportunities and working to enhance its corporate value.
