Nabtesco Corporation (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazumasa Kimura) is pleased to announce the investment made by Nabtesco Technology Ventures L.P. (Managing Partner: Hiroshi Nerima) in Embotech AG, an innovator in autonomous driving solutions for industrial logistics.

Embotech, short for embedded optimization technologies, is a startup and could provide AVM (Automated Vehicle Marshalling) solution in finished vehicle logistics and ATT (Automated Terminal Tractors) solution for port and yard logistics applications.

The logistics industry faces the global driver shortage and requirement for the decarbonization. Embotech provides highly automated solutions to address those challenges with improving efficiency of logistics.

For its AVM business, Embotech has signed a long term contract with automaker BMW and realized automatic guided driving for the vehicle transfer among factories in the automobile production process. For its ATT business, Embotech has succeeded in a demonstration test of automated driving under complex mixed traffic conditions at Europe's largest port and harbor, and are now preparing for a large-scale deployment in the future. Embotech leverages a shared technology and safety process in AVM and ATT to lead the automation solutions marketplace with sophisticated motion control algorithms and optimization software.

Through this investment, we aim to solve social challenges by providing innovative new products and services to the automotive industries as well as smart automation area by combining Embotech's state-of-the-art technology with our motion-control technology.
